The number of COVID-19 cases in Karnataka took a steep hike on Friday, with 515 cases reported across the state. The numbers are increasing rapidly, just like the way it is happening in the neighboring states.
Majority of the cases from Maharashtra
Out of the 515 cases reported on Friday, 471 are returnees from Maharashtra. In fact, out of the total number of cases in the state which currently stands at 4835, 3032 cases are returnees from Maharashtra.
The issue is slowly getting out of hand and it is justified that the state government has issued strict quarantine guidelines for returnees from other states.
204 cases registered in Udupi on Friday
Udupi has again registered the maximum cases in a single day. As on Friday, the total number of cases in the coastal city stood at 768, the highest in the state. Yesterday, 42 cases were added in Kalaburgi while Yadgir saw 74 cases. These districts were followed by Vijayapura, Bidar, and Belagavi where the total number of cases reported yesterday was 53, 39, and 36 respectively.
On the other hand, Bengaluru City reported 10 cases on Friday. 6 of these cases are individuals who have returned from other states or countries. 11 returnees from Maharashtra and one from Andhra Pradesh tested positive in Bengaluru Rural.
On the positive side, 83 patients were discharged yesterday. While 32 belonged to Hassan, Mandya and Bengaluru also saw patients getting discharged yesterday.
