Karnataka Lockdown Update: In a major decision, The Govt To Auction 12,000 BDA Corner Sites

Karnataka reported 15 more cases of COVID-19 in the state as the tally reached 247 including 6 deaths and 59 discharged. There are also efforts to strengthen the lockdown in phase 2 that is set to begin from tomorrow.

Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa chaired a cabinet meeting today at 11 am and then briefed the press about the developments. In the press conference, the Chief Minister spoke about the economic plans of the government as he acknowledged the impact of COVID-19 on the financial situation of the state. The state has come out with a plan to raise more funds and provide economic relief to the state, he said.

The unauthorized construction cases pending in the high court and Supreme Court have been asked to Fastrack to provide some relief to the people involved in the case and in turn, would help the state in revenue.

In a major decision, the Karnataka government has decided to auction 12,000 corner sites of BDA. The estimated revenue from the sites will be around 15,000 crores, the Chief Minister said. He also urged the factories to provide the pending amount to the farmers i.e. around 2,000 crores immediately. The Chief Minister also said that the free distribution of milk will carry on for another week.

On the further instructions of the lockdown, the Chief Minister said that they are awaiting the guidelines of the center and also assured that they will be followed promptly.

Update of the Lockdown in the State

In Bengaluru, people are being screened at a check-post in the Padarayanapura area which has been declared as a COVID-19 hotspot by the BBMP. Also, in Ashoknagar, authorities were seen using temperature guns to screen people at the entry gate. Ashoknagar too has been declared as a containment zone.

Out of the 15 cases reported today, 4 are from the Hubballi-Dharwad district, 3 each from Mandya and Bagalkote, 2 from Bidar, 1 each from Mudhol, Bengaluru Urban and Bengaluru Rural. 13 people have contact history, 1 has a history of travel to Delhi and 1 has severe acute respiratory infections. Mysuru breathed a sigh of relief on Sunday as seven people were discharged after recovering from COVID-19.
