Thanks to all the readers. Bengaluru, the Garden City of India is now the most Well-Read city in India leaving Delhi and Mumbai behind in the list. This is in reference to a survey conducted by Amazon India’s Annual Reading Trends Report in 2017.
This has not come as a surprise. Bengaluru is a hub for the number of schools and colleges and so, exam preparation books were the most preferred ones, followed by books by Indian authors. The city that houses extensive Book events, Literature festivals, Story-telling sessions and poetry festivals definitely deserves this title.
Coming to the survey, Exam preparation books top the list followed by books by Indian authors with Literature and fiction, personal development and self-help, and romance categories ranking in third, fourth, and fifth positions respectively.
Noor Patel, Director Category Management, Amazon India, said, “We are very excited with this year’s Reading Trends Report and are thrilled to see Indian writers among the most read authors for the fifth consecutive year! We are truly committed to helping our customers enjoy their passion for reading by offering them a wide selection of books with unique choices across languages, genres, and authors,”
