CM Yogi Adityanath Government Orders Strict Action; For Those Who Refuse COVID-19 Tests In UP

The Uttar Pradesh government lead by Yogi Adityanathon on Tuesday warned of strict action including jail for those who do not join in the state’s attempts to control the novel Coronavirus outbreak and spread misinformation or rumors to create panic in the society.

Reported in Times Now, Jai Pratap Singh, UP health minister, stated that the concerned authorities have been given control under section 3 of the Epidemic Diseases Act to take all required steps in the viewing of the Coronavirus outbreak.

“We will take action against any suspect if he/she refuses to get tested or runs away from authorities. Action will also be taken against any person who tries to hide such patients, misleads or obstructs the health team from conducting its duty. If required, offenders will also be sent to jail as per the law,” he said.

 

According to the minister, the situation in Uttar Pradesh was well under control and there was no need for anyone to panic.

“People should take precautionary measures advised by the government. We will review the situation on March 20 when further decisions will be taken. We have given special training to 800 doctors and more than 1,200 beds have been reserved across the state in district hospitals and medical colleges,” the minister added.

The health minister also informed that the state government has begun an awareness campaign, involving rural areas, to tell people about the cares that must be taken.

On fleeing the COVID-19 test exercise, the government has opted no mercy policy to curb the spread of Coronavirus.

Recently, the wife and father of the coronavirus infected Google employee in Bengaluru have been charged by the police under the Epidemic Disease Act 1897 for misleading the health officials.

A report said that the officials faced opposition when they went to her house and only after the interference of the district officer did they manage to drive her to an isolation ward.
