Everyone’s favorite TV show is set to release soon on April 14th, 2019. While everyone is keen on knowing who wins and is rooting for their favorite characters, some of us will be doing quite the opposite. George R. R. Martin had shown us what he thought of our old favorites with a volley of unwarranted, shocking and heartbreaking deaths in the previous seasons. While we hope that the new season has no sudden deaths of our favorite characters, it’s better to not get too attached to anyone. Who knew that this life lesson will be applicable even while watching a TV show? Thanks, GRRM. While we can’t promise any immunity to your favorite characters, here is a list of five things you should know before you watch the new season of Game Of Thrones.

1. The Trailers and Teasers
There have been about three trailers and teasers released so far by HBO. The videos don’t really say much or reveal much in terms of crucial plot but do get you riled up and excited for the new season. The Crypts of Winterfell is one the best trailers out there which further accentuate Jon Snow’s possible Targaryen and Stark blood. The slow, creeping wave of mist and ice that move across the floor sends shivers up and down your spine.
2. Daenerys comes to Winterfell
Daenerys who comes to Winterfell meets Sansa who also offers allegiance to the new Queen. It will be interesting to watch the character interactions between the Stark sisters and Daenerys. Jon will also be meeting his younger sister Arya for the first time. An emotional reunion is expected but we have learned to expect the unexpected from this show.
3. Good old treachery and revenge
Cersei is expected to betray the alliance against the White Walkers. But how soon will she do it? Will it have an impact or will it be routine scheming that everyone foresees and thwarts? Perhaps Tyrion – her younger brother will be able to outsmart his sister. The question arises as to whether Jaime Lannister will remain true to his love or betray Cersei in support of the alliance. Euron Greyjoy will either strike a decisive blow or fail outright. The Greyjoys haven’t had any luck in the past few seasons. Many fans hope Yara Greyjoy will escape and get her revenge on the arrogant Euron.
4. The ice dragon
And now to address the dragon in the room. All those petty squabbles and ruthless politics between the humans would mean nothing to the White Walkers and the ice dragon which they now have on their side after killing Viserion. The video clip of Viserion taking down the wall had everyone shocked and was one of the best season endings Game of Thrones has ever had. We look forward to seeing more of this ice dragon.
5. The Final War
There is expected to be a lot of battles and a decisive war. We will perhaps see for the first time, Dothraki, Unsullied and House Winterfell fighting in the snow against White Walkers.
Perhaps Cersei sees sense and decides to support the alliance too. The victor can be from either side. Either way, we hope for lots of battle scenes with dragons. It shall truly be a battle between fire and ice.
With what seems like many years till the new season releases on April 14th, we can’t help but speculate as to who gets to sit on the iron throne. Or if there even remains an iron throne.
