2020 is indeed a curse in disguise. The moment we think all will go well, there is a new pillar of devastation right ahead of us. With the ongoing pandemic, earthquakes rocking various states, floods and cyclones in some and locust attacks in others, a rare natural disaster now seems to be taking place in Puducherry: a tornado.
Reports talk of a ‘gentle but stunning’ tornado in Ayyanar Nagar, Yanam, an enclave in Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh. According to Mumbai Tez News, authorities have said that a few huts have been damaged and the tornado has hit areas along the river Godavari.
More details are awaited. Even though earthquakes and floods are annual natural disasters, occurrences of tornadoes are really rare in India. And while this tornado may not be as big as the ones that surface in the U.S., it’s scary nonetheless.
Close-up video, apparently shot by locals, shows some electrical disturbance taking place because of the location of the tornado as debris and small bushes succumb to the storm.
More details regarding the intensity of the tornado and the damage caused are awaited. We hope there’s no more damage. One thing’s for sure, 2020 does not seem to have any intentions of getting better.
