Former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad has been a relentless critic of KL Rahul for a while now. After the India opener from Karnataka was disappointed with the bat again, he urged him to play County Cricket and think about giving the IPL 2023 season a miss. He even said that he does not have anything against KL Rahul after posting a series of controversial tweets.
Venkatesh Prasad’s frequent Tweet
India’s opening batter KL Rahul’s horror show with the bat continued in the second Test against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy as he failed to register big scores in both innings. In the first innings, Rahul was dismissed on 17, and in the second innings, he was sent back to the pavilion for only 1 run.
India retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on Sunday after beating Australia in the second Test by six wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad has been critical of Rahul of late and has given some good pieces of advice.
“Rahul needs to play County cricket in England, score runs, and earn his place back, much like Pujara did when he was dropped. Playing Test Cricket for the country and doing everything possible to get back in the form will be the best answer. But will it be possible to skip the IPL?” Venkatesh Prasad wrote.

The former pacer from Karnataka was vocal about KL Rahul’s recent performance. His series of Tweets criticizing Rahul shows how disappointed Venky Sir was with the batter. The former fast bowler even called Rahul a product of favoritism and said that his selections have denied the chances to talented players who have been waiting on the sidelines of the Indian team.
Still considered by management as the second best Test opener in a country with so much batting talent. https://t.co/ipanuYBTKL

And the torrid run continues. More to do with rigidity of the management to persist with a player who just hasn’t looked the part. No top order batsman in atleast last 20 years of Indian cricket has played these many tests with such a low average. His inclusion is …. https://t.co/WLe720nYNJ

Rahul’s selection is not based on performance but favouritism . Has been Consistently inconsistent and for someone who has been around for 8 years not converted potential into performances.
One of the reasons why many ex-cricketers aren’t vocal despite seeing such favouritism..— Venkatesh Prasad (@venkateshprasad) February 11, 2023
I have a lot of regard for KL Rahul’s talent and ability, but sadly his performances have been well below par. A test average of 34 after 46 tests and more than 8 years in international cricket is ordinary. Can’t think of many who have been given so many chances. Especially..cont

No personal agenda
After his Tweets went viral and had mixed reactions over his opinion on KL Rahul, Venkatesh Prasad said that he does not have anything against the Indian opener. He wrote on Twitter that his criticisms were made keeping KL’s goodwill at heart.
Honestly doesn’t matter , Aakash. In my view it is very fair criticism even if he scores a half century in the second innings . And between the match or after the match is irrelevant here. Best wishes for your lovely videos on YT, i do enjoy them. https://t.co/bkVGSEeg5w

A few people thinking i have something personal against KL Rahul. Infact it is the opposite. I wish well for him and playing him in such form was never going to enhance his confidence. For him to earn his place back in Test cricket, now that the domestic season has ended, cont.
