Gone are the days when weekends meant impromptu long drives or getaways to destinations around the city. Now, most of us end up staying inside, ordering in a fine meal or just lounging about to mark the weekend.
However, you may just get to take a break from that and enjoy an exciting airborne adventure with your family, all thanks to Thumby Aviation. The aviation firm has just begun joy rides on helicopters for small groups or families over the weekends!
While the firm originally operates heli shuttle services between Electronic City and Kempegowda International Airport for people travelling to and from the airport, the decrease in the number of passengers is what led them to start offering weekend joy rides.
The Bell helicopter is used for the heli rides and can carry 5-6 passengers. “These services offer a 10-minute ride over Bengaluru and are available only during the weekends,” said Govind Nair, head of Business Development, Thumby Aviation.
The rides are open only to families or a single group and no shared rides are allowed. You can board either from Electronic City helipad or Jakkur Aerodrome and will be dropped back at the same spot.
Maintaining all safety and hygiene measures while maintaining necessary distancing, the service kickstarted on September 13 with nearly 30 families signing up on Day One itself! The heli ride costs Rs. 3,500 for one person. So, all set to gape at Bangalore from up in the air?
