Surya, a lawyer won a seat to Lok Sabha assembly from Bangalore South in 2019 elections. In his post, the MP said, “Deeply hurt over attack on our Jain brothers in B’luru over Hindi on a banner of a temple by few rowdy elements. They however never question the use of `rb~ (Arabic) in Bengaluru. Assaulting peaceful Jains who contribute to Karnataka brings infamy to genuine Kannada lovers and activists.”

But the pro-Kannada supporting people have raised a hue and cry on social media against the arrest of these activists and even heavily trolled Tejasvi Surya for his comment.
