Traffic jams were reported from several areas in Bengaluru after the State Government lifted certain norms of the lockdown from today.
Lockdown relaxation in the state
After the lockdown relaxations were rolled back on April 20th, the State Government had yet again attempted at lifting lockdown partially in the green zones of the state.
“To mitigate hardship to the public, select additional activities have been allowed, which will come into effect from 00.00 hours of April 23.” Chief Secretary TM Vijay Bhaskar had said on Wednesday.
The major reason for the government’s decision has been the cash-crunch that the BSY-government is severely facing right now. Initially, certain construction activities and other related infrastructure activities were allowed to function in the state. The government also allowed certain IT sectors to function with a minimal workforce.
Apart from the above two, the functioning of independent services such as plumbing and electricity-related works were allowed. Plantation-based agricultural activities were permitted as well.

Traffic Jams return to Bengaluru
A couple of days ago, Traffic Jams were sighted in Mysuru Road and JC Raod, and the scenario repeated itself in other parts of the city too. A major reason for the same was the lockdown relaxation in certain zones.
Speaking about the same, Congress accused BJP of mismanagement of the situation. One of the tweets from the party’s official twitter handle read:
“Announcement of partial relief to ease lockdown by @BSYBJP has created chaos in #Bengaluru today. Massive traffic jams are reported across the city with confusion & no proper guidelines. This shows a lack of co-ordination in Governance with improper planning.”
With the perennial problem resurfacing, it needs to be seen how the government would respond to the situation.
