This Is Just The Beginning: Rahul Gandhi Warns BJP Over Farm Laws

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, on Friday, launched a scathing attack on the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that the ‘black’ farm laws will have to be withdrawn. Taking to Twitter, the former Congress president warned that this is ‘just the beginning’ and that farmers will fight for the ‘truth’.

“The PM should have remembered that whenever the ego hits the truth, it is defeated. No government in the world can stop the farmers fighting the battle for truth. The Modi government has to accept the demands of the farmers and black laws will have to be withdrawn. This is only the beginning!” Gandhi said in a tweet.

Earlier, he also shared videos of water cannon being sprayed on protestors during the ongoing agitation against the farm bills. Similar visuals were shared by other social media accounts. “Modi govt won’t fight China but wages a war with our farmers!” Youth Congress said in a tweet.

The Congress’ criticism for farm bills comes at a time when farmer organisations across the country have launched a ‘Delhi Chalo’march against the contentious farm bill passed by the Parliament. While the government, as well as various ministers, have assured that the bills are meant for the welfare of farmers and that they won’t affect the minimum support price (MSP), farmer bodies, backed by opposition parties have been demanding that the farm laws be rolled back.

While Delhi Police had earlier said that farmers will not be allowed to enter the national capital in light of COVID-19 pandemic, the groups were finally granted permission to enter the city and hold protests.
