After millions of students appealing the government to postpone the Joint Entrance Examination and the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, Bollywood Actor Sonu Sood has come in support of the students.
Sonu Sood had also appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to assess the risk of conducting the examination amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The actor has recently been hailed as the messiah for his deeds to help migrant laborers to reach their home amid the health emergency. Now, he has come out with another initiative.
He took to Twitter to announced that he will be helping the students who will be appearing for the JEE and NEET if the exams don’t get postponed. He wrote,
“Students appearing for NEET-JEE 2020 I AM STANDING BY YOU! If you are stuck anywhere, let me know your areas of travel. I will help you reach your examination centers. No one should miss their exams because of the resources.”
In his appeal to postpone the exams, he wrote,
“It’s my request to the government of India, to postpone the #Neet/#JEE exams in the current situation of the country! In the given #COVID19 situation, we should care utmost & not risk the lives of students! #PostponeJEENEETinCOVID”
Opposition Leaders To Ask For Postponement Of The Exams
Sonu became one of the many voices who have asked for the postponement of the examination. Many students have already made their case on social media addressing the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister. Even opposition leaders like Sitaram Yechury, Rahul Gandhi and Mamata Banerjee, Aditya Thackeray and MK Stalin has appealed to the government. As of now, the JEE examination is scheduled between the 1st and 6th of September while the advanced stage is on the 27th of September. The NEET is set to be held on September 13.
