We the people in Karnataka live in a place where Kannada is not just a language for us but an emotion that we carry along. Every November 1 we celebrate the pride of speaking this ancient language as we stand unique from other states. Having a love for our language, it is the duty of some companies, organization, firms, and other private corporations to display the local language in their marketing products as a part of showing respect for doing business in a particular culture-oriented place. However, an incident was reported where google was spotted using some different language representing one of the local places in Bengaluru.
The pride of Karnataka
Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna, Majestic is named after Sangolli Rayanna, who was an Indian military chief Warrior from Kittur Karnataka. He earns greater respect from all Kannadigas as he has fought against the British abuse in the state till his death. There is also a movie based on his life which was released in Kannda back in 2012.
Bengaluru city railways station is officially known as Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna Railway Station. It is a key railway junction that connects Bengaluru with various destinations across the length and breadth of the country by an interconnected train network. It was in 2016 the center approved the name change of the Bangalore city railway station as ‘Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna’ railway station following requests from the citizens.
A google blunder
A great warrior who belongs from a state full of Kannadigas and who respected the Kannada language as his own has his name displayed in Tamil in the Google map for the city railways station address. Call it a man-made error or mistake, the tech giant has failed to recognize the language the state possess. Kannadigas are not happy with this act and what Pichai’s company to take immediate action on this incident.
@googlemaps @GoogleIndia This suppose to be in Kannada or English. This is karnataka and the local language is kannada not Tamil. Please restrict the language for editing or suggestions either English or Kannada. I hope @GoogleIndia Will take action on this. pic.twitter.com/B4ajVOOmjt
