Rishab Shetty, the director, and writer of Kantara reacted to the runaway success of his film. The 39-year-old’s reaction to the Kannada picture touching the 400 cr mark is priceless.

Kantara’s success has perhaps exceeded even our wildest expectations. Actor-director Rishab Shetty’s flick is winning hearts across India. The film has received widespread acclaim, with celebrities ranging from Prabhas to Kangana all vocal in their praise for the brilliantly composed film.
“As a writer, I had certain ideas as to what should be the takeaway of the film and I have always believed that the ‘regional is universal’, so I made the film from a regional perspective, said Rishab Shetty telling ‘Why Kantara connected with the audience’
Kantara has become the second-highest-grossing Kannada film. This year has been especially good for the industry, with superhits such as KGF 2, James, Vikrant Rona, and 777 Charlie.
The 400 cr mark
Reportedly, the film has so far done a business of Rs 369 crore worldwide. It is rumored that Kantara will soon hit the OTT service. Fans have been eagerly waiting for Kantara OTT release announcement. However, the makers are yet to disclose the details. In such a scenario, it is yet to be certain if the film will be able to enter Rs 400 cr club at the box office before the Kannada film hit a streaming service.
Speaking about the same, Rishab Shetty said, “100 cr, 200 cr, 300 cr, and 400 cr, but I don’t know the real numbers.”

Meanwhile, Kantara was released in the Kannada version and Hindi versions on 30th September and 14th October respectively. The film is written and directed by Rishab Shetty. Produced by Vijay Kiragandur and Chaluve Gowda, under Hombale Films, the film features Rishab Shetty, Sapthami Gowda, and Kishore Kumar G in pivotal roles.
