The lifetime collection of Rishab Shetty’s Kantara has surpassed the numbers of Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan. This is a huge boost for the Kannada Film industry.
Kantara beats PS-1
Rishab Shetty’s Kantara is earning well in all languages across the globe. The film achieved a new milestone by beating Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1’s lifetime collection in Hindi. Kantara earned over Rs 26 crore and is now inching closer to the Rs 30-crore mark in the North belt. This is indeed a huge boost to Kantara, which was largely a Kannada film. Initially, the film was released in Kannada and was later dubbed in other languages due to positive word of mouth.
The Kannada film Kantaram helmed by Rishab Shetty, hit the theatres in Hindi on October 14. The film started off a little slow and picked up pace as days progressed.
Trade analyst Ramesh Bala shared the news that the Hindi dubbed version of Kantara has rocketed past Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1’s lifetime collection. He wrote, “#Kantara Hindi has crossed #PS1 Hindi Lifetime Nett in India (sic).”
