Anupama and Anmol on Kantara
Kantara was released in theaters on September 30 clashing with Ponniyin Selvan I and has managed to receive a great response from audiences and critics as well. This week on The Film Companion review show, Anupama Chopra and Anmol Jamwal came together to share their thoughts about Kantara, and its explicit run in theaters.
Talking about the film Anmol says, “There is this Kantara that is increasing its shows because of huge demand.”
“Absolutely, I am desperately looking for shows which are all in some remote locations. I am dying to see it,” Anupama expresses her excitement.
“Definitely Kantara is the highlight of this weekend. I remember I saw Garuda Gamana because of you (Anupama). And again Kantara has Rishab Shetty. He has directed, written, and starred in it. The story is based on the Kambala festival and Buta Kola. It’s a great mixture of folklore and action thriller,” says Anmol.
Storing coming from the roots
He also tells Anupama about an interview where Anurag Kashyap mentioned about the recent trial room mentality of Bollywood. He said, “Anurag was telling how all the Hindi films and the stories are coming out of the trial room. And on the other side, there is Rishab Shetty and the team who are from Mangaluru and Udupi, who have grown up with the region. And so many people are resonating with the content because they (the Kantara team) are talking about the people themselves.”
“They did a splendid job. It’s a visual treat. And should be on your must-watch list,” Anmol concludes.
To this Anupama Chopra expressed her excitement and wanted to watch the movie as soon as possible.
