Late Kannada actor Puneet Rajkumar’s last film breaks an all-time record. Movie James’ first-day collection surpasses Yash starrer KGF Chapter 1.
James breaks KGF record
One of the most anticipated Kannada films James was released in theaters on 17th March. Since then Puneeth’s last movie has received immense response from all around the world. Unlike other big films, the release of James has made all the viewers emotional.
Owing to the same reason, fans and Kannada celebrities didn’t miss this big opportunity of feasting their eyes on the legendary actor for one last time on the big screens.
According to reports, Puneeth Rajkumar’s final movie James opened to great numbers and has broken KGF’s all-time first-day collection record.
Previously, KGF had collected a record Rs 20 crore on its first day in Karnataka. However, the record was shattered by Puneet’s starrer ‘James’ which had over 920 shows in Bengaluru on the first day.
Box office record
Reportedly, James has made close to 27 crores at the box office on its opening day, which is a record in the Kannada film industry. Fans thronged to cinema halls in groups to watch Puneeth, who passed away following a cardiac arrest at the age of 46, one last time on the big screens.
As per trade analyst Trinath, the film approximately grossed Rs. 27 crores from Karnataka, making it one of the biggest openers in Puneeth’s career.
“The film has taken an extraordinary opening. Even under normal circumstances, the film would’ve done well but Puneeth’s untimely demise turned the hype into emotion for fans who didn’t want to miss watching the film on the first day. The film was released in a record number of shows on the first day,” Trinath said.
The movie has about 2500 shows while Bengaluru itself has 920 shows on day 1, creating a new record.
