An old video of former BJP national spokesperson Nupur Sharma is going viral on social media platforms after she has drawn criticism and death threats from Islamists for her comments on Prophet Mohammed in a TV debate.
Nupur Sharma’s old video
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had earlier suspended its spokesperson Nupur Sharma after her remarks against Prophet Mohammad. The incident had sparked a debate and drew a massive backlash from Gulf countries.
The 37-year-old, however, unconditionally withdrew the controversial statement and said that it was never her intention to hurt anyone’s religious feelings.
Amid all this, an old video of her is going viral on social media platforms where she is seen debating with TV anchor Arnab Goswami.

Debate with Arnab Goswami
This is a video from 2008 when young Nupur Sharma appeared on the news show as an Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) leader. She can be seen fiercely debating with the then Times Now editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami over a protest against separatist leader SAR Geelani at the Delhi University campus.
This Times Now video is out of sync but trust me it's not edited. Nupur Sharma's career started as a fringe who defended the despicable act of spitting at Prof SAR GEELANI. ALSO, 13 years ago Arnab Goswami used to speak like a decent human being. https://t.co/LtsqSprtL1 pic.twitter.com/HmO7upc358

It was the time when she served as the President of the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU). During her term as the President, she once led a group of ABVP activists to protest against DU Professor SAR Geelani who was accused and later pardoned of the involvement in the Parliament Attacks of 2001.
Nupur Sharma was called upon by Arnab Goswami of Times Now for an open debate with SAR Geelani over the issue. The 37-year-old was seen aggressively arguing with Arnab Goswami.
In the argument, Nupur Sharma said that Geelani was pardoned by the Supreme court due to a lack of technical evidence. Geelani had organized an event against the hanging of Parliament attack prisoner Afzal Guru. He was charged with sedition for the same.
