Nandi Hills Will Open To Visitors From September 7 But There Is A Catch

The collective prayers of nature lovers, bikers and travel enthusiasts have just been answered – Nandi Hills is gearing up to reopen to visitors from September 7 albeit with strict measures in place.

Back during the pre-COVID era (yes, this is how we talk now), Nandi Hills used to be our go-to option for every weekend when we got bored and just needed to have a getaway. But then, the pandemic happened and we, like every other travel-loving soul, have been staying indoors as much as possible.

Even after subsequent relaxations, with places like Nandi Hills closed to the public, our weekend trips have become a thing of the past. Not anymore, we hope. According to a recent report, Nandi Hills will reopen on September 7 – this might just be the best news we’ve heard in a while!

However, there’s a catch: the authorities will be allowing visitors only between 8 am and 5 pm. Which means no early morning drives or trips to see the sunrise. This has dampened the spirits of quite a few travellers in the city who believe that the best thing about the trip was getting to catch the sunrise. Commenting on this, the district administration reportedly said, “We fixed the entry time at 8 am as we expect a surge in visitors from Bengaluru as a majority of them are tired of sitting at home.

We will take a call on changing the timings after a few days.” Adding to the protocols, only people wearing a mask will be allowed entry. Those violating social distancing rules or not wearing a mask will be penalised by the officials in charge of screening visitors. Although it won’t be the same as before, for now, we’re just happy we can go back to our default weekend trips to Nandi Hills!
