According to unofficial from the Mumbai Police, the actor was stopped by the railway protection force when he reached the station on Monday night. “The actor was stopped by the RPF, not by us. He wanted to meet the laborers who were going to their native place. We have not received any complaint.”

Shiv Sena’s Criticism

The Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut looked at the actor’s action through a political lens and asked whether the Bharatiya Janata Party is behind Sonu Sood. With Sonu helping the stranded migrants, the Bharatiya Janata Party is looking to show the Uddhav Thackeray led government in a bad light, Raut said. He even went onto sarcastically mock the actor as he called him “Sonu Sood” and also took a jibe by saying the actor might meet the Prime Minister soon.

In his weekly column Rokhtok in the Shiv Sena magazine Saamana, Sanjay Raut referred to a string operation that was done on Sonu Sood ahead of the 2019 general elections where he had agreed to promote the BJP government through his social media platforms. Raut also said that no wise man can believe Sonu Sood’s sympathy for laborers and migrants. On Sunday, Sonu broke his silence and wrote on Twitter,

“My journey with my migrant brothers and sisters has been the most special one. It’s straight from the heart, Right from Kashmir to Kanya Kumari whenever anyone tried to reach me, I have put all my efforts to help them reunite with their families and will continue to do so. I would like to thank all the state governments who helped me in the process. I’m immensely grateful to them for always encouraging my efforts for the entire nation. Jai Hind.”

Later Sonu Sood met the chief minister and Shivsena president Uddhav Thakre who lauded the actor’s initiative to help stranded migrants to reach their native. The union defense Minister Rajnath Singh also backed Sonu Sood and his initiative and questioned the criticism of the Maharashtra government.
