Addressing a poll rally at Kengeri in Bengaluru, Prime Minister Narendra Modi slammed the current Government for converting the “Silicon Valley to a Valley of sin, Garden City to Garbage City, Computer capital to Crime capital, startup hub to pothole hub.” Making a strong pitch for the BJP in the city, Modi promises to give back ‘Kempe Gowda’s Bengaluru’ if voted to power.
Narendra Modi has left no stone unturned to say that the cosmopolitan culture of the city is degraded to a culture of chaos in five years.
‘Steal’ Bridge
Prominently, Modi talked about the issue of Steel Bridge and termed it as ‘Steal’ bridge. He highlighted the fact that a ganga of money has flown below the bridge directly into the houses of Ministers. Smashing the State Government, Modi alleged the participation of ministers in the land mafia and supported ‘Goondagiri’ in the city. He also mentioned about a son of Congress MLA’s attack on Cafe customers and an attempt to set fire to a Government office.
Taking Up the Issue of Bellandur Lake
Lakes have always been a part of Bengaluru’s nature and culture however due to recent downgrade in the rejuvenation of lakes, the city has lost its old charm. Taking up the issue of Bellandur lake, Modi said the Congress has converted a city of Nadaprabhu Kempe Gowda into a city of burning lakes.
The Prime minister credits the issue to lack of sewage infrastructure and said BJP would work towards the rejuvenation of all lakes.
Low Spending on Smart City Projects
Narendra Modi used the stage to criticize the State Government for low spending on Smart City Projects highlighting the funds released by the Union Government. He said, “We have provided Rs.836 crore for the state to develop cities, including Bengaluru, into smart cities.” He alleged that the Siddaramaiah’s Government has spent only 12 Crore till date and termed Congress manifesto as ‘hawa Hawai manifesto.’
This was the highlight of Narendra Modi’s speech at Poll rally in Kengeri. It is true that the State Government has failed in developing the city but do you think that the promised made by Modi gets fulfilled? Can Modi’s Gujarat model work in Bengaluru? Let’s wait and see.
