The Filmmaker speaks up about his trolls
You like him or not but you surely can’t ignore this Filmmaker who is arguably one of the most recognized personalities in Bollywood. From Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham to Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Karan Johar has entertained his audience by giving an extraordinary list of films to watch over the years.
But there is one thing that has been consistent in his life and it is merciless trolls. Time and again, the 49-year-old is targeted as the flagbearer of nepotism. Every time he launches a star kid, the trolls are inevitable. Some also comment on his personal life, especially his sexuality.
Recently, in an interview, Karan Johar commented on the same and said that he has stopped caring about negativity. When asked about limiting his social media presence, Karan revealed that he has restricted himself and that his social media feed is now mostly concentrated on his films.
“Eventually it’s a platform that you are leveraging to build a connection with the world outside and it’s my job. I’m not here to disassociate myself from my filmmaking or for my storytelling narrative which is the most critical part of who I’m,” he said.
Comments on sexuality
Karan Johar revealed how he stopped caring about people commenting on his sexuality. He also mentioned that he gets trolled ‘a lot,’ but he doesn’t mind. “Even now when I go through the comment section I only look where the hearts are there. Commenting on my sexuality, commenting on what they believe I am, you know, I’ll be 50 in May and I’m so grateful for so much,” he added.
The filmmaker also had a message for the audience and it is simply to not ignore him. “Love me, hate me for heaven’s sake don’t be indifferent to me because that’s something that might kill me. Indifference is something that I can bear,” he concluded.
On a professional note, Karan is all set to make his comeback as the director of Ranveer Singh-Alia Bhatt starrer ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’
