Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has suggested the government to isolate virus hotspots and allow business to re-open in other areas. 

Earlier today, in his address to the country, PM Narendra Modi announced the extension of the nationwide lockdown to May 3rd. The first phase of the 21-day lockdown ends today. Modi had also suggested various measures required in fighting the epidemic while also providing the status of COVID-19 in the country.

Rahul Gandhi slams the government

In a tweet posted yesterday, Rahul Gandhi slammed the government for its decision of a blanket lockdown, as the same has been affecting the poor. He said:

The one-size-fit-all lockdown has brought untold misery and suffering to millions of farmers, migrant laborers, daily wagers and business owners.

It needs a smart upgrade, using mass testing to isolate virus hotspots and allowing businesses in other areas to gradually reopen.

Congress questions BJP’s strategy for the poor
