On a historical move, Article 370 of the constitution has been proposed to be rested. And the Bill to bring down the special status to Jammu and Kashmir is almost passed in Rajya Sabha. Amit Shah on Monday read out the details about the bill which was disrupted by opposition leaders calling it a hurried up process. The government also announced that it will bifurcate the state into two Union Territories.

Soon after this news went viral, the social media got divided with a difference of opinions. Many celebrities, journalists, politicians, and common people posted mixed opinions regarding the scrapping of Article 370 in the constitution. Some called it a bold move by BJP government and some called it a disastrous decision.
Mixed reactions on Twitter
It will have catastrophic consequences for the subcontinent. GOIs intentions are clear. They want the territory of J&K by terrorising it’s people. India has failed Kashmir in keeping its promises.

India's strongest legal claim to J&K is the Instrument of Accession, of which Article 370 is an outcome.
By attacking the basis of that legitimacy, Modi and Shah are attacking that credibility, just as Mao violated the 17 Point Agreement on Tibet.
Bye bye, democracy and law.

The @AmitShah announcement revoking #Article370 says it has the consent of the Jammu and Kashmir government. But there is no elected government or assembly in place. So consent is that of the Governor. What happens when a new assembly is elected? All sorts of questions persist

What do the people of Jammu and Kashmir think of this monumental change? We don't know because a blanket of silence has been thrown over them. Their fate is being decided, but they are not allowed to speak. And we still call ourselves a democracy!

Sending 40,000 more troops to Kashmir (the MOST militarised place on earth), imposing a curfew, stopping internet, placing elected representatives under house arrest, asking tourists/foreigners to leave: all this psych-ops for what savagery + chest-thumping? #KashmirBleeds

We used to have two beautiful factories including a tulip garden in Kashmir. With militancy these had closed down. With the #Article370 revoked, I expect investments to return and the saying come back true “If there is heaven on earth, it is here, it is here, it is here”.

The boldest decision of the Modi govt so far. Even more than DeMo, GST. Pre planning safety measures deserves special mention. As does keeping instigators of violence in house arrest. Well done. #Article370Scrapped
