‘I Live Rent-Free In Mukesh’s Property’: Anil Ambani In Video Evidence For The Lawsuit Filed By Chinese Banks

In a video-evidence, Anil Ambani has rejected a judge’s comments that he was leading a lavish lifestyle. The former billionaire was facing questions concerning the lawsuit that was filed by three Chinese banks against him.

Anil pursued for more than $700 million

Three state-controlled banks out of China have filed a lawsuit arguing that they had provided funding to Anil’s Reliance Communications Ltd. in 2012 with the condition that he personally guarantees the debt. However, the banks are yet to receive any funds. In his defense, Anil said that he had never made a personal guarantee, calling it an “extraordinary potential personal liability.

Anil reacts to a judge’s ‘lavish lifestyle’ comments

After a judge said that Anil was leading a lavish lifestyle, the younger brother of Mukesh Ambani dismissed all the statements. He said that he was a marathon runner, and didn’t drink, smoke or gamble. He further added: ” I think I must put it respectfully in perspective. My needs are not vast and my lifestyle is very disciplined. Any suggestion of a lavish lifestyle past, present, and future is completely speculative.

Anil has also been accused by putting the ownership of his assets in corporate entities, thereby keeping it out of reach of his creditors. While the family art-collection was owned by his wife, a luxury yacht is owned by a company.

Anil is said to have received loans from his mother, and son. He reiterated that they were loans and not gifts. He also said that he is residing rent-free in a property owned by his brother Mukesh Ambani in Mumbai.

A spokesman of the tycoon added: “Anil has always been a simple man of simple tastes, contrary to exaggerated perceptions of his flamboyance and lavish lifestyle. He is also a lifelong vegetarian, teetotaller, and non-smoker who would much rather watch a movie at home with his kids than go out on the town.
