The Election Commission ambassador Rahul Dravid’s name did not feature in the voter list during the Lok Sabha elections. However, after months, he is finally eligible to vote in future elections in the Malleshwaram assembly constituency. A report showed that Dravid and his wife’s names were present in the updated voter’s list.
The legend can finally vote
Former India cricket captain Rahul Dravid had shifted his house from Indranagar to Ashwathnagar which made his name deleted from the voter list. Dravid and his wife name got deleted after his brother submitted a form stating that the couple had moved from Indranagar 12th main to Ashwathnagar. However, The former batsman’s name was not included in the list as a voter from Malleshwaram assembly constituency where Ashwatnagar lies.
Soon after this incident, the chief electoral officer of Karnataka rushed with this matter to the BBMP revenue officials. It was then Dravid’s case was considered special and his name was included as a voter in July.

After 2 months BBMP staff has updated the new electoral rolls and the name of Dravid and his wife Vijeta’s was included in the Malleshwaram assembly constituency.
Roopa J, assistant revenue officer, made sure Dravid and his wife’s name was included in the concerned list. Being Election Commission ambassador it was electoral’s staff’s duty to ensure Dravid’s name remained in the list. The special summary revision of rolls is scheduled to end by October 15.
The report also showed Bengalurians approaching the BBMP officials to check whether their names are on the list. However, they have been told that their applications for enrolment had been missing.
