COVID-19 Patient Sexually Assaults 14-Year-Old Girl Inside Care Centre Washroom

A teenaged girl was allegedly sexually assaulted inside the washroom of a COVID-19 facility in Chhatarpur, New Delhi. The girl and the accused, both are coronavirus patients. As per the police, the incident took place on the night of July 15.

The accused is said to be 19-years-old. The alleged incident took place at the Sardar Patel COVID Care Centre located in Chhatarpur. The centre was set up for mild and asymptomatic patients.

The survivor and the accused live in a slum cluster located near the care centre. They had been admitted to the facility with their relatives.

Accused’s associate filmed the obscene act

The 14-year-old girl alleged that she was sexually assaulted by the teenaged accused when she had gone to use the washroom. The minor girl claimed that an associate of the accused had also filmed the incident.

After being sexually assaulted, the teenaged girl opened up to her relative and shared her ordeal. The relative is also undergoing treatment at the care centre.

After learning about the incident, the girl’s relative informed an ITBP official who communicated the case to the police, The Times of India’s reported. The police arrested the accused and his associate. As per the cops, the accused’s associate did not sexually assault the teenager.

The accused men were booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The two accused teenagers were nabbed and sent to judicial custody. Further probe is underway.
