Coronavirus Iran: 103-Year-Old Iran Woman Survives The Deadly Virus

Amid global Coronavirus outbreak, there is a piece of good news coming from Teheran, Iran where a 103-year-old woman has reportedly survived the deadly virus.

The unidentified woman was been hospitalized in the central city of Seman, for about a week. However, she was discharged after making a positive recovery, Semnan University of Medical Science head Navid Danayi quoted.

According to the sources, the woman was the second elderly patient in Iran to have survived the disease. Previously, it was a 91-year-old man from Kerman, in the southeast of Iran who survived the disease, the news agency said.

After being sick for 3 days, the 91-year-old man recovered on Monday despite having pre-existing medical conditions including high blood pressure and asthma. Interestingly, doctors denied revealing they were treated.

The World Health Organization this month estimated the novel coronavirus kills 3.4 percent of all those infected. But for people aged over 80, the fatality rate was 21.9 percent, according to a report the WHO carried out with the Chinese authorities. The above incident of elderly people recovering has given a lot of positive hopes.

Iran’s condition 

Since February 19 the deadly Coronavirus has spread to all the country’s 31 provinces. As the reports confirm that the virus has killed 1,135 people out of 17,161 cases of the infection since it first emerged in the Islamic Republic. According to Iran’s health ministry, he said a total of 5,710 people had overcome the virus.

Iran has yet to impose a lockdown, but officials have repeatedly called on the public to stay home for the Iranian New Year holidays starting this week.
