87-year-old super granny, who cheered for team India in the ICC Cricket world cup match against Bangladesh, became an internet sensation after her pictures from the match went viral on social media. However, it looks like the adorable superfan has now bagged a contract with PepsiCo for their ad campaign.
Super Granny Bagged an Ad Campaign
PepsiCo has signed Indian superfan Charulata Patel to be the face for it’s special World Cup 2019 ‘Swag’ ad campaign. Pepsi has been looking to target the youth of the country through its ‘youngistaan’ campaign. But for now, it has appointed the viral internet star as a brand ambassador and ‘swag star’ to add to its current ‘har ghoonth main swag’ campaign.

After the game where India successfully beat Bangladesh, Charulatha was visited by Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, with the captain promising to pay for her tickets for the tournament.
Also would like to thank all our fans for all the love & support & especially Charulata Patel ji. She's 87 and probably one of the most passionate & dedicated fans I've ever seen. Age is just a number, passion takes you leaps & bounds. With her blessings, on to the next one. ??? pic.twitter.com/XHII8zw1F2

How important is this for the Pepsi
Company’s official spokesperson said, “Pepsi is honored to bring the story of the unassailable swag of Charulata Patel. Her love for the game shows the world that age is just a number when it comes to living life at the moment. He said further that Pepsi will collaborate with Patel to “pay tribute to the spirit of the Indian cricket fan.”
Previously, Pepsi was the official global partner for the ICC from 1999 to 2015. But for this World Cup, ICC announced Pepsi’s arch-rival Coco-Cola as a global partner. This was the company’s first association with the ICC since 1996. Nevertheless, Coco-Cola ad was most witnessed in the tournament and Pepsi clearly doesn’t want to miss the chance.
