BS Yediyurappa’s granddaughter Soundarya allegedly died by suicide: What we know so far

TW: The former Chief Minister of Karnataka, BS Yediyurappa’s granddaughter, Dr. Soundarya Neeraj allegedly died by suicide. Dr. Soundarya Neeraj, 30, was found hanging in her apartment located in Cunnigham road which is a prime locality of Bengaluru.

What do we know so far?

Dr. Soundarya Neeraj was a doctor by profession. She completed her post-graduation in General Surgery from MS Ramaiah College. She was married to Dr. Neeraj, a Radiologist at the MS Ramaiah Hospital in Bengaluru. The couple got married in 2018 and have a nine-month-old baby.

She was the daughter of Padmavati who is BSY’s elder daughter. She was found hanging from the fan of her bedroom using a veil. Her baby was asleep when they found her body. A preliminary investigation has revealed that it was a case of suicide. The police have also stated that there was no death note as such found.

The incident was reported first by the house help who knocked at the door and got no response. She alerted the security personnel who went to the balcony of the adjacent bedroom and peeped through the window.

The house help called up Dr. Neeraj and conveyed the situation to him and he immediately rushed back. They broke the door open and planned to shift Soundarya to a nearby private hospital. Once this was done, the doctors tried to revive breathing in her but that was in vain. The doctors declared her dead and the body was shifted to the Bowring Hospital for autopsy.

Later the body was taken to Neeraj’a farmhouse in Abbigere where the last rites would be performed.
