A Bengaluru Cop has been suspended for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 50 Lakhs from two men who were caught while transporting 100 bottles of liquor.
The incident happened on April 11th
On April 11th, ACP Vasu followed a Tata Sumo with a ‘GST Emergency’ Board attached at the back. Vasu was of the doubt that the board was fake. He stopped the vehicles near the Bettadasanapura Main Road, and upon checking, he found 8 carton boxes with around 100 liquor bottles in them. The two were later arrested and taken to the Electronic City Police Station.
ACP Vasu takes the arrested duo to interrogation
Vasu had alleged that one of the arrested, Vishesh Gupta, offered him a bribe of Rs. 50 Lakhs to be set free, Vishesh also said that the bottles were being carried to Additional Commissioner of Police S Murugan.
However, ACP Vasu took them for interrogation. On April 12th, Vasu was asked by ADP Murugan, asking the duo to be set free. Vasu replied that an FIR had already been registered. Murugan asked the duo to be released on bail, to which, ACP answered that the procedure to obtain bail would take time.
Then, a few days later, a complaint was lodged against ACP Vasu, that the cop had enlisted a constable to collect a bribe of Rs. 50 Lakhs. The complaint was directed to ADP Murugan. As Vasu had not adhered to Murugan’s orders earlier, ACP Vasu was suspended on Friday.
