Bharathiya Janatha Party is all set to make a mark on the Tamil Nadu political segment. History reveals that many people from the Tamil film industry have been active in Tamil Nadu politics which is not new to the people. Some of the well known familiar faces like MG Ramachandran, and Jayalalithaa were the Chief Ministers of Tamil Nadu and they all have their background in the Tamil film industry.
Undoubtedly, there is a lot of worship culture of these party leaders in the state. Keeping such things in mind and making a calculative move, BJP is now looking to engage with popular stars of Kollywood to make an impact in Tamil Nadu politics.
BJP’s Challenge to get stars in its Rank
The sources say that popular actors like Surya, Vijay, Ajith and  Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) founder Kamal Hassan are under BJP radars. The party has not made any announcement till now and their attempts to lure film stars have not met with any success so far.
As far a Vijay is concerned, in 2017 BJP went through a tussle for his controversial movie ‘Mersal’. Vijay, playing the lead in the film, was slammed by BJP state president Tamilisai Soundararajanthe for showing Goods and Services Tax (GST) in the film in a negative way, introduced by the BJP government at the Centre.
Hard time with Kamal Hassan
In the Lok Sabha elections, Kamal Hassan had made a controversial remark that Nathuram Godse was the first terrorist and that he was a Hindu. Demanding his arrest, the state BJP said the actor had violated the model code and accused him of trying to create a rift between communities in the name of religion. Tamil Nadu police registered a case under non-bailable sections. However, Hasan was granted an advance bail in the case and the trial is yet to commence.
Ajith joining BJP rumors
Ajith who is BJP’s next target is a popular Kollywood star with immense fan followers. In January this year, after a group of his fans joined the BJP, the party showcased it as a support of its politics. However, the actor has confirmed that he has no such political ambitions and have made it clear that he or his fans have not joined any political party and those were just rumors.
Although it’s clear that the BJP has to work hard to include these stars in their rank and get them to lend their hand oot to support the party. In the current scenario, no actors are willing to collaborate with BJP. In fact, it’s clear that BJP is creating the umbilical cord between film and politics in the state.
