Bharatiya Janata Party leader Kapil Mishra on Tuesday claimed that the Bharat Bandh called by farmer unions has “flopped” in Delhi. He accused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of working to flop farmer’s nationwide shutdown call while showing support for their cause.

After the Aam Aadmi Party alleged that Arvind Kejriwal has been put under “house arrest”, Mishra said the Chief Minister is afraid of moving out of his house as entire Delhi is open. “This is why they are levelling false allegations against the Delhi Police,” the BJP leader tweeted.

Mishra said as Bharat Bandh is being observed across the country, all markets in Delhi are open and roads are full of traffic.

The BJP leader claimed that even vegetable mandis had also opened in the national capital. He further challenged Kejriwal to show if even one market or industrial area is closed in the capital.

Earlier, the Delhi Police had refuted the AAP’s allegation that the CM had been put under house arrest.

“This statement is absolutely incorrect. As being the CM of Delhi, he can move around wherever he wants,” Anto Alphonse, DCP North, Delhi said.

The Delhi Police also tweeted a picture of Kejriwal’s house to refute AAP’s claim.

AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj had earlier claimed at a press briefing separately that the police had even thrashed AAP MLAs who had gone to meet the CM at his house.

“The CM met farmers at Singhu border yesterday. He had said that we’ll serve them like ‘sevadars’ and support them. After he returned, the Delhi Police barricaded his residence from all sides, putting him in a house-arrest like situation, at the behest of the Home Ministry,” Bharadwaj said.

“No one is allowed to go inside, he is not allowed to come out. MLAs, who had a meeting with CM yesterday, were beaten up by the police when they went to meet him. Workers were not allowed to meet him either. BJP leaders are being made to sit outside his residence,” he added.
