Bengaluru will be a strongly fortified city on 31st, thousands of CCTV cameras, drones, police force including senior officials, constables, home guards, and private security staff will keep an eye on everyone. The city police will make security arrangements in place to manage a huge number of people who come out onto the streets to celebrate the New Year.
A total fortress
Areas like Brigade Road, M.G. Road, Indiranagar, and Kormangala are among the places which will be filled with people who come out from different localities to celebrate the new year. Moreover, these are the places that have a large number of pubs, restaurants, and party venues that attract visitors. The city police sights to control these areas by taking strick security measures in New Year’s eve.
On Saturday, Bengaluru city police commissioner Bhaskar Rao said that there would be about 15,000 police security personnel including senior officials, constables, home guards, and private security staff as well.
Rao said that there will be enough illuminated watchtowers in some of these areas to keep watch over any violent elements who serve to create trouble for others, especially women.
An oath for women’s safety
He also that all drivers on cab aggregator platforms have been demanded to take an oath for women’s safety. Rao said that women partying should be careful not to accept drinks from strangers to evade any mixing of drugs.
Rao also informed about multiple issues that could show up when drunk and disorderly mobs tend to cause trouble in the course of their revelry. Some people may also get goofy and Overspeed and trouble others on the road. The police have warned of serious outcomes to those elements causing trouble.
Most importantly, all 41 flyovers, including elevated corridors leading towards the airport and electronic city, will be closed from 10 pm to 6 am to avoid overspeeding and accidents.
“On events like this, we see that chemical drugs like cocaine amphetamines and other tablets, make the presence,” he said, the police will station canine units in high-end party venues and hotels. Adding that the police will not hesitate to enter hotels and even rooms if there is information about such activities.
