In a piece of positive news, the number of containment zones in Bengaluru has reduced from 38 to 19 in the span of seven days.
BBMP had identified 38 Hotspots last week
Last week, BBMP had announced 38 Containment Zones in the city, all of which had been sealed down in an effort to curb the Coronavirus outbreak. However, as per the latest notification from the Palike, the number has reduced to 19 now.
The ‘zones’ had been identified based on the number of cases in a particular area and the risk of community transmission of the virus. BBMP had also defined a ‘zone’ based on the appearance of positive cases in apartments, independent houses, and slums.
The 19 Containment Zones
Among the 19 ‘Zones’, four apartments have been identified as containment zones in the city. They are Pyramid Class Apartment in Gurappanapalya, Hutchinson’s Manor Apartment in Cooke Town, Mantri Splendor Apartment in Geddalahalli and Vayu Stuti Vaibhava Apartment in Akshaya Nagar.
The wards listed as zones are JP Nagar, Gurappanapalya, Sudamanagar, Karisandra, Shakambari Nagar, Bapuji Nagar, Hosahalli, Maruthi Seva Nagar, Ramaswami Palya, Pulikeshi Nagar, Radhakrishna Temple, Shivanagar, KR Market, Padarayanapura, Rajarajeshwari Nagar, Begur, Hoodi and Hormavu.
While there have been plans of setting up a health-post exclusively for each zone, BBMP is also delivering food on a door-to-door basis wherever applicable.
With the second phase of the nationwide lockdown coming to an end of May 3rd, this news could be a boost to many who are looking forward for normalcy to resume.
