This amazing news for cyclists will make them unearth all their bikes and get started to ride all the way to Kempegowda International Airport. Sounds exciting, isn’t it?
Cyclists in the city rejoice, as you can now pedal away all the way to Kempegowda International Airport on Sunday mornings for a ride of your life!
Bangalore is teeming with cyclists braving the traffic and squeezing in some exercise. But there is good news in store for Bangalorean cyclists, the Kempegowda International Airport campus is now open to cyclists in the city every Sunday morning between 6 am to 9.30 am.
Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) who owns and operates the Bengaluru Airport said that they had earlier restricted the movement of cyclists due to safety concerns. With new and improved roads, the airport will once again welcome cyclists with open arms…oops we mean open wide roads!
Hoping that this initiative will encourage more people to take up cycling in the city, the authorities have put up strict safety guidelines that the cyclists need to adhere to during their time at the airport.
Sathya Sankaran, Bicycle Mayor of the city said cyclists are always on the lookout for places that are both safe and picturesque in which they can ride. “It has been our long-standing desire to be able to ride at the Bengaluru airport, with its paved roads and beautiful landscapes. The cycling community looks forward to enjoying this opportunity”.
To take in the tranquil ride, cyclists can now cycle all the way to the airport on Sunday mornings and also enjoy early morning coffee or a hearty breakfast at the restaurant that offers a wide range of breakfast choices. There will be a dedicated cycle parking facility near the Quad to help cyclists enjoy the space while their bikes will be monitored by BIAL’s security. What’s not to love about this?
