Chief of the Haryana unit of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), Gurnam Singh Chaduni has accused Punjabi singer and actor Deep Sidhu of inciting and misguiding protesters. Violence broke out during a tractor rally organised by farmers in Delhi on Tuesday.
It was during the chaos that followed that a group of farmers stormed the Red Fort and hoisted a flag that was not the tricolour.
“He [Deep Sidhu] led them to the Red Fort. Farmers never wanted to go to Red Fort,” BKU’s Haryana unit chief Gurnam Singh Chaduni told India Today.

In an exclusive interview with Aaj Tak, Swaraj India leader Yogendra Yadav also held two people including Deep Sidhu responsible for the incident at Red Fort. “Deep Sidhu was present at Red Fort during the violence. We were opposed to him since the start,” Yogendra Yadav said.
“I hang my head in shame over the Red Fort incident. The people who were there were not the right people. There were deshbandhus there who have not been with us since Day 1 but I cannot run away from responsibility since it would give the agitation a bad name,” Yadav added.
“A probe should be launched into how Deep Sidhu reached the Red Fort with a microphone,” Yogendra Yadav said. He further accused Sidhu of trying to instigate the protesters on multiple occasions.
“He [Deep Sidhu] is linked to the BJP and was an agent during MP Sunny Deol’s election and also has many pictured with Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” Yadav claimed.

He went on to add, “We had informed the police about this beforehand but no action was taken. He has not been arrested despite his pictures from during the incident. It seems like a conspiracy led the incident at Red Fort.”
Yogendra Yadav also pointed fingers at one Lakha Sadana, accusing him of instigating the crowd.
“Even last night, these two were trying to instigate and we told the police about it but no action was taken,” Yadav said adding that the leadership of Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee is also responsible for the violence that took place in Delhi.
Congress Lok Sabha MP Ravneet Singh Bittu also claimed that it was Deep Sidhu who unfurled the flag at Red Fort. “He [Sidhu] is a member of banned extremist outfit Sikhs for Justice (SFJ),” Bittu alleged.

Deep Sidhu took the main stage at the Singhu border protest site and announced that the farmers’ march would be held “inside Delhi”, said a report by the Tribune.
The report goes on to add that Deep Sidhu made attempts to take a leadership role in the ongoing agitation despite active resistance from farmer leaders.
In a Facebook Live following the incident, Deep Sidhu claimed, “We only hoisted the Nishan Sahib at the Red Fort while exercising our democratic right to protest, India flag not removed.”
