According to Aamir Khan’s Box Office Formula, Kantara is now a bigger success than 3 Idiots, Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion, and even PK.
Aamir Khan’s formula
The Kannada film Kantara written, directed, and acted by Rishab Shetty hit screens a few months ago. Since then, there has been no stopping the film, which received positive reviews from both the audience, critics, and even celebrities also. While the film did have controversies, at the box office Kantara has been holding strong with each passing day adding to its overall collections.
In fact, some have praised Rishab Shetty and hailed the film as a masterclass in filmmaking. Surprisingly, the film managed to not only survive but also surpass competition from Bollywood’s latest releases Ram Setu and Thank God. If that was not enough, according to Aamir Khan’s Box Office Formula, Kantara is now a bigger success than 3 Idiots, Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion, and even PK.
As per Aamir Khan’s formula, “To measure a film’s success, you need to see the weekend figures and compare it with the total collection. Like 3 Idiots did Rs. 40 crores on the weekend and the total business was Rs. 202 crores, so the weekend multiplied by 5, is the behavior of the film which is very good. That shows people have gone again and again to see the film. Jo film teen din mein 100 crore karein aur total mein 200 crore karein(If a film makes 100 crores in 3 days and ends up with an overall collection with just 200 crores), then that film is not good.”
According to Bollywood Hungama, while likening, the report introduces a Metric – Weekend to Lifetime Multiple. According to this comparison, a higher multiple indicates strong content and therefore longevity at cinemas, which in turn suggests footfalls being attracted in the following weeks.
Surprisingly, Kantara, which manages to break into the top 10 films with the highest weekend-to-lifetime multiple claims the eighth place with a multiple of 5.13 which is higher than previous releases like 3 Idiots (4.99), AndhaDhun (4.97), Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion (3.99), and PK (3.57). When compared to South films that have been dubbed, Kantara has performed better than the SS Rajamouli magnum opus RRR (3.63).
Kantara Box Office
Meanwhile, Kantara is creating history by recording the highest collections on a single day in the fifth week and beating new releases. In overseas, collections have picked up the pace. As a combined result of both, the film is soon going to hit the 300 crore mark.
Speaking about the latest update of the worldwide box office, Kantara has scored a humongous total of 289.21 crores gross in 31 days. Out of this total, India is contributing 268.21 crores gross (all languages) and 21 crores gross is coming from overseas. As we can see, the film is now just inches away from hitting the 300-crore mark.
