Rumors are rife that Hombale Films, which produced KGF and Kantara, two of the recent blockbusters, is planning a pan-India flick featuring Tamil superstar Rajinikanth. But this is what Hombale films has to say about speculations.
Rajinikanth in ‘Kantara 2’
Rishab Shetty’s Kantara created a massive impact across the country and the excitement leveled up when he announced the prequel of the film, Kantara 2. Now, the filmmaker said that the genre of the film will be different than the first part and Rishab also promised “plenty of surprises” which sparked rumors of superstar Rajinikanth being part of the film.
Rishab Shetty revealed Kantara 2 while speaking about the success of the first part at an event in Bengaluru, saying, “We are studying for the screenplay. Preparatory work is now ongoing. He guaranteed that the prequel will be full of surprises for the audience. Even the genre of the film will be different.”
The report also added that when Rishab was asked by a reporter if Rajinikanth will be seen playing a role in Kantara 2, the Kannada star kept mum. His reaction neither confirmed nor denied the news. Therefore film analysts and fans started speculating that there is a high chance of Rajini playing a major role as a deity.
It was also reported that Hombale films, which bankrolled 2 mega-blockbusters KGF franchise and Kantara, had approached Rajinikanth, who is currently shooting in Mangaluru for his upcoming film Jailer. It was mentioned that the Tamil superstar was shooting at the same house, where Kantara was shot.

After observing all these unwanted rumors, Hombale films finally reacted to the news. They told a publication called The Federal, “The news is 100 percent false. We have not approached Rajinikanth for a film yet. We haven’t traveled to Mangaluru nor have we met Rajinikanth for a discussion. These are baseless rumors.”
Meanwhile, Rajinikanth is on the brink of completing his current film ‘Jailer’ directed by Nelson and costarring Shivarajkumar, Mohan Lal, Jackie Shroff, Sunil, and Tamannaah. His next films are ‘Laal Salaam’ directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth and ‘Thalaivar 171’ directed by T.J. Gnanavel.
