“Rishab & Rakshit played a big role in my success story”: Rashmika Mandanna calls for a ‘Ceasefire’

Rashmika Mandanna spoke candidly about her debut film Kirik Party. She spoke about the role Rakshit Shetty and Rishab Shetty played in her success story.

Rashmika on her debut film

Rashmika Mandanna is one of the most renowned actresses in the South industry. The 26-year-old was launched in the film industry with Kirik Party, directed by Kantara fame Rishab Shetty. Rashmika was at the receiving end of a barrage of online abuse after her comments were sensed as being disrespectful to Rishab, who didn’t call off the army, and instead fuelled the fire further.

Now it seems, the Varisu actress has called for a ceasefire. In her latest interview, she decided to praise both Rakshit and Rishab Shetty. Rashmika while promoting her film Varisu, clearly stated that Rakshit and Rishabh Shetty showed her the way to the film industry.

The interviewer asks ‘what do you think about your first movie Kirik Party’. The actress has an honest reply and said that Rakshit and Rishabh have shown her the way into the film industry.

It was Rishabh Shetty and Rakshit Shetty who gave me a chance in the movie. I am grateful that they both showed me the way into the film industry,” Rashmika said, quoted News 18 Kannada.

The controversy

The hatred for Rashmika started when Rashmika, in her interview, addressed her debut film and spoke about the producers (ie, Rishab and Rakshit Shetty) using air quotes. Her gesture was sensed as disrespectful as well and invited a new wave of trolling.

Rishab, in an interview with Gulte, was given a list of female actors and asked if he’d work with any of them. He named both others besides Rashmika, and said using air quotes, “Main actors ko script likhne ke baad choose karta hoon, aur mujhe ‘iss’ type ke actress, I don’t like them (I decide my actors once I finish my script. I prefer working with newcomers as they come with no barriers. These actors, I don’t like them).”

After these incidents, the Pushpa actress was on the receiving end and some Kannada filmmakers even called for a boycott of her upcoming movies in Karnataka.

But now, Rashmika’s latest statement praising both Rishabh Shetty and Rakshit Shetty might be welcomed by angry Kannadigas and the hatred might partially subside.

On the work front, Rashmika was last seen in the Tamil movie Varisu. Also, next, she will be seen doing a series of movies in Bollywood. Her upcoming Hindi film is Mission Majnu opposite Sidharth Malhotra. After finishing all her commitments she will act in this year’s most awaited film, Pushpa The Rule.
