Kerala court has lifted the restriction against the makers of Kantara from using Varaha Roopam song in the Rishab Shetty starrer after it rejected the plea of a Kerala-based rock band, Thaikkudam Bridge, which had accused the Kantara team of plagiarising the iconic track from its song Navarasam. Soon after this Netizens took to Twitter to troll the Kerala band.
Varaha Roopam song
After a massively successful theatrical run, the Kannada film Kantara made its OTT debut on 24 November. The film was released on Amazon Prime Video in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam. But the popular song ‘Varaha Roopam’ has undergone a great change. The song was shortchanged as Thaikudam Bridge had sought legal action against the makers for allegedly copying its song.
However, the Kozhikode District Court in Kerala dismissed the band’s plea citing a lack of jurisdiction. So, the interim order against the Varaha Roopam song stands canceled, according to India Today. It is to be seen if the Varaha Roopam song will be back in the OTT version of the film.
For the fans, the song was necessary to enhance Kantara’s cinematic experience. While they were thrilled to watch the film stream online, they were disappointed to see the changes that were made to the song Varaha Roopam, owing to the legal matter. Many even demanded the Kantara team bring back the song but this seemed impossible.
But now, things have taken a dramatic turn after the Kerala court dismissed the band’s plea citing a lack of jurisdiction. Many netizens took to Twitter to troll Thaikkudam Bridge with Kantara’s iconic dialogue- “So you will go the court, eh? But I shall pronounce your judgment on those very stairs.”
