Kantara Officially Crosses Rs 300 crore At BO, Gets 1162% Profit Returns

Kantara emerged as a surprise box office success. A film that collected Rs 1.95 Cr on its first release has now touched the 300 Cr mark at the World Wide Box Office.

Kantara hits 300 cr mark

Kannada superstar Rishab Shetty’s latest release is refusing to slow down at the ticket window. It has become one of the most discussed movies of 2022. While South films continue to make inroads in the northern regions, Kantara has trumped all regional hits this year.

Sources close to the production house, Hombale Films, state that the Rishab Shetty directorial has touched the Rs 300 crore mark at the box office, with half of the collections achieved in Karnataka, reported New Indian Express.

Kantara is another Sandalwood blockbuster making it big on the pan-India level, which even made a dent in Bollywood Diwali releases like Ram Setu and Thank God.

Kantara (all languages) has grossed a humongous collection of Rs 300.21 crore in 32 days. Out of this, the domestic market has contributed Rs 272.41 crore gross (all languages), while Rs 28 crore gross came from overseas. The film has now officially hit the Rs 300 crore mark.

Unimaginable profit

It’s no less than a wonder as the figures are unbelievable considering the film’s budget of 16 crores. If we subtract the cost of making from the collection, the film has made returns of 218 crores so far. It equals 1362.5% profit. With the returns, Kantara has beaten the returns of The Kashmir Files standing at 1162%. That’s really amazing!

SR Prabhu, who has the film’s distribution rights in Tamil Nadu, with his Dream Warrior Pictures is delighted, “The film registered its highest collections on October 30,” he states, making this a rather respectable feat. Although he denied sharing actual numbers, he agrees that the film has done ‘incredibly well commercially’. “It continues to do well. We believe it has another two-three weeks left in it.”

This remarkable success has merited comparisons with the blockbuster success of the various other dubbed versions of the Kannada film, KGF 2. However, Prabhu believes the comparison to be unfair to both films.

“There are a lot of differences like the opening day numbers, the number of screens that were allocated… For its scale, Kantara has done great numbers, but let’s not compare it to KGF 2.” In its fifth week now, Kantara is still playing on over 100 screens in TN.

Meanwhile, Kantara also became the most-viewed film in Karnataka last month, registering over 77 lakh footfalls in 25 days.
