New forecasts from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Management Centre (KSNDMC) indicated heavy rain across the state with the weather office issuing a ‘yellow’ alert for some districts, including Bengaluru.
Yellow alert for Bengaluru
It has been a month after normal life returned to the city after the rains and flooding brought havoc, Bengaluru is bracing for heavy rains again in two days.
The Silicon city of India is set to witness heavy showers on Wednesday, a new forecast from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated. The IMD issued a ‘yellow’ alert for Bengaluru Urban and Bengaluru Rural districts, among many others, including Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Belagavi, Bidar, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Kalaburagi, Raichur, Yadgir, Ballari, Chamarajanagara, Chikkamagaluru, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Hassan, Kodagu, and Shivamogga, reported Hindustan Times.
“The city will continue to receive moderate rainfall on Tuesday. However, rains are expected to increase after Tuesday and hence, we have declared a yellow alert for Bengaluru on Wednesday,” a senior official from IMD said.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, October 11, rains are expected in the northern districts as well, with a yellow warning being issued for Gulbarga, Yadgir, Raichur, Koppal, Gadag, Belagavi, Ballari, Chitradurga, Chikmagalur and Chikkaballapur districts.

Bengaluru has been witnessing spells of rain over the last few weeks, as well as cold weather. As per an IMD publication issued on Sunday, October 9, the city recorded maximum temperatures of 28°C, with minimum temperatures of 21.3°C. At the HAL station, a maximum temperature of 27.8°C was recorded, while the minimum temperature was 18.6°C, while the maximum and minimum temperatures at the Bengaluru international airport were 28.6°C and 21.6°C were reported.
The IMD said that over the next few days, Bengaluru will see cloudy skies, with a few spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers very likely to occur. Maximum and minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 26°C and 20°C respectively, reported The News Minute.
IMD predicts the rains to decrease by October 21, following which a complete departure of monsoons is expected.
