Here’s How Upendra Starrer Kabzaa Has A Little Rocky Bhai’s Connection

Kabzaa directed by R Chandru and headlined by Realstar Upendra has crossed millions of views within 24 hours of its release. The makers strongly believe the teaser’s impact can be seen in the opening up of the business of the film with inquiries coming in from across the globe. But a recently shared video on Twitter shows how KGF star Yash has a small connection with R. Chandru’s movie.

Kannada Film Kabzaa

Director R Chandru and team Kabzaa are overwhelmed with the response to the teaser, which was released on September 17 and has now crossed over 26 million views in 4 days. The big-budget period gangster drama stars Real star Upendra as an underworld don and Badshah Kichha Sudeep in the pivotal role of Bhargav Bakshi. The film also stars Shriya Saran as the heroine.

The Kabzaa teaser received good responses and was also compared to Yash- Prashanth Neel’s KGF franchise. The director and Upendra were amused by the fact that their film was likened to the Pan-India blockbuster. They perhaps admire both Yash and Neel for taking Kannada Film Industry to a new level.

“I’m glad that people are comparing our film’s making to a film like KGF, which made a business of `Rs 1500 crore. So there is an equal expectation from Kabzaa as well. Kabzaa is a film, which is made on Hollywood standards, and will mark its own identity and will create an individual brand among the people,” Director Chandru said.

Yash’s Kabzaa connection

Amid all this, a video is going viral on Twitter where Ravi Basrur, music director of KGF and Kabzaa, reveals the true story of giving a title for Upendra’s upcoming film.

“Since the beginning, I have this weakness that without lyrics I can’t compose music. Lyrics are a must in order to do that. When I run out of ideas it’s Yash who helps me with this task. The ‘Salam Rocky Bhai’ Song from KGF was also his lyrics, the first few lines,” reveals Ravi Basrur.

The music director further explaining about the idea of Kabzaa, he says it was Yash’s brainchild. “The title Kabzaa was also suggested by him,” he adds. Take a look at the video:

Yash had earlier praised Upendra’s look from Kabzaa and was too curious about the title. He wrote in a Tweet, “Thank you (Smiling Emoji) my best wishes to the team of Kabzaa! Really liked the title, Uppi sir looks great!”

Film’s release date

R. Chandru’s directional film might hit the theatres this December and is expected to be out in nine languages. The filming of one song is yet to happen, and the makers have simultaneously started the post-production work on Kabzaa. With audience expectations building on the film, the director is yet to finalize the release date.

“The film has a lot of VFX work, and it still needs to be dubbed in 7 languages. It is only after completing them that I can work on the release date. I do have a certain target date in mind, and I hope to meet it,” says Chandru, who along with actor Upendra, is heading to Dubai for the next set of promotions.
