Heavy downpour has turned India’s ‘Silicon Valley’ into a lake, leaving residents annoyed. Motorists and pedestrians wade through the flooded Outer Ring Road near Bellandur following heavy monsoon rains in Bengaluru.
Lakes overflow
Heavy rainfall has turned Bengaluru into a lake of sorts. Citizens had to face a difficult time as several residential areas in the IT city were waterlogged owing to heavy rains, prompting authorities to send boats to evacuate people.
The most affected areas are said to be Bellandur, Sarjapura Road, Whitefield, Outer Ring Road, and BEML Layout. And this is because Bellandur, Hallenayakanahalli, and Varthur lakes have overflown onto the streets after rains pounded Bengaluru overnight.
Situation is terrifying at #Ecospace near Bellandur.
Vehicles are quite literally sinking.

New Water park in Bengaluru
Visuals from the Bellandur area showed water rushing out of the fence around the water body. The water flowed onto the streets, completely flooding the area and inundating the roads. The Hallenayakanahalli lake overflowed and water from the Rajakaluve (stormwater drain) connecting the Hadosidapura lake and Halenayakanahalli also streamed onto the streets after it reached capacity.
Taking to Twitter, netizens shared pictures and videos of the flooded roads. Others also shared memes and fun takes on Bengaluru rains. A Twitter user wrote, “ ‘Blunder-La’ it water theme park#bengalururains.”
