Yash19 will be with Shankar

Sandalwood sensation Yash, who shot to fame with the KGF franchise, is all set to play the lead in Shankar’s upcoming film. According to reports, Yash will team up with the director for a historical drama, which is likely to go on floors in later 2022. The film might also feature Ram Charan as one of the leads. It is believed that Shankar narrated the script to Yash last year and has confirmed him as one of the leads.

Earlier reports suggest that young Kannada filmmaker Narthan has roped in Yash to play the lead in his upcoming film. And the project was likely to go on the floors in the second half of 2022. However, the filmmakers are taking more time to develop a perfect script for the film. This means the film will not go on floors until next year. An official announcement regarding the film is still awaited.

A historical drama

Now, with Yash joining hand with Shankar, the film is likely to go on floors in late 2022. It will, however, take the shortest production time as major portions will be shot using a green mat and need a lot of CG work. The project, which is believed to be a historical war drama, is expected to release in 2025. Sources say that Shankar will begin working on this film only after completing Indian 2, which stars Kamal Haasan in the lead role. 60% of the shooting is already completed, said sources.

The film starring Yash in lead will be simultaneously shot in five languages including – Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam. Sources in the know say that Shankar is also in talks with Ram Charan, Vijay Sethupathi, and other popular stars for the project. An official announcement will be made only by the end of this year, said sources.
