Last month on his 40th birthday, Grover had said that “its time to disrupt another sector. It’s time for the Third Unicorn”. Evidently, he gave a clear hint at what the name of his next startup would be as his new company is named Third Unicorn Private Limited.

Grover’s company was registered on July 6 and has both Grover and Madhuri Jain Grover, who was previously Head of Controls at BharatPe, as directors, said sources. Moreover, Third Unicorn Private Limited has an authorized share capital of Rs 20 lakh and a total paid-up capital of Rs 10 lakh.

This company aspires to serve in computer and related activities across India, according to company details.

The BharatPe saga

Ashneer was previously the MD and co-founder of BharatPe, a popular company he helped develop from the beginning, until his sharp departure due to charges of financial irregularities. BharatPe became a member of the unicorn club in August of last year.

Grover and his wife have both claimed that their dismissal from BharatPe was unjustified, blaming CEO Suhail Sameer and Chairman Rajnish Kumar. Ashneer had threatened legal action against CEO Suhail Sameer and the board for his comments on the professional networking platform LinkedIn against his sister Ashima Grover.

Ashneer Grover was formerly affiliated with Grofers, which is another unicorn. Until August 2017, he was the Chief Financial Officer at Grofers (now Blinkit). As a result, the mention of constructing a “third unicorn” appears. A ‘unicorn’ is a privately held startup with a $1 billion valuation.
