Bachchan Pandey had high hopes to make an impact on the Box Office. However, The Kashmir Files is not only challenging the Akshay Kumar starrer, but also occupying screens in the theaters.
The Kashmir Files bulldozed everyone
Not only, Bachchan Pandey, mega movies like Batman, Radhe Shyam, and Gangubai Kathiawadi have also been impacted due to ‘The Kashmir Files’ wave.
The Vivek Agnihotri directorial, which was released on March 11, has already crossed Rs 170 crore mark within 2 weeks. The Kashmir Files, based on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley during the 1990s, was originally released on about 630 screens. However, the viewers’ tremendous response to the film has led to more screenings for the movie.
Impact on Bachchan Pandey
Coming to the Akshay Kumar-starrer Bachchan Pandey, which was released on Holi, did not make any impact at the Box Office. Well, it seems the fever of The Kashmir Files did not die down soon as its shows are still running houseful in several states.
While the geopolitical drama had captured the taste of the nation, the film bore an immense beating. Bachchan Pandey’s collections over the weekend stood at 37.25 crores. The film couldn’t even grow further on both Saturday and Sunday, which only collected 12 crores each. Previously, Bachchan Pandey had collected Rs 12.30 Crore on Day 1.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his Twitter handle and wrote, “#BachchhanPaandey remains low over the weekend, mainly due to #TKF juggernaut that eclipsed the biz of *all* films… Did not witness growth on Day 3… Fri 13.25 cr, Sat 12 cr, Sun 12 cr. Total: ₹ 37.25 cr. #India biz.”
The Kashmir Files, however, stayed terrific with Rs 24.80 crore more in its pot. The film is continuing to see an upwards trend ever since its release and from a start of Rs 3.55 crore, it is now collected 179 crores.
