The Kannada Film Industry managed to deliver more than a hundred films in 2021. While the density was lofty in the initial months, after the COVID-forced furlough, in the latter stages of 2021, a few more films earned their release. From a larger stance, KFI did not have a fabulous tour in 2021. That said, the year has terminated on a profitable note with a few promising films. 10. Badava Rascal
Produced by Daali Dhananjaya, Badava Rascal had him playing the lead role. The movie is a neat entertainer and has done a great job for Sandalwood by pulling viewers to the theatres.
9. Bhajarangi 2
A sequel to a highly successful film, Bhajarangi 2 released under bitter circumstances. Nevertheless, the movie did impress many with the all-round performance of the technicians and the actors.
8. Ninna Sanihake
Ninna Sanihake, directed and featuring Suraj Gowda, marked the debut of Dhanya Ramkumar. While the music by Raghu Dixit was a big plus, the urban environment and the fresh pair also added to the viewing venture.
7. Ikkat
Ikkat was a direct release on Amazon Prime. A plot that happens inside four walls, Ikkat did evoke a few laughs. The relatability factors, comprising the COVID pandemic and the quarantine rules, also helped the movie.
6. Salaga
Directed by Duniya Vijay and featuring him in the lead role, Salaga also had Dhananjaya playing an important character. With Duniya Vijay, there are set of expectations and those were fulfilled at the theatres.
5. Hero
Hero was actually a fun experience and it was also an intelligent film by Bharath Raj. Featuring Rishabh Shetty, BGM, performances and the setting are the film’s strengths.
4. Seetharam Benoy
Streaming on Amazon Prime, Seetharam Benoy has Vijay Raghavendra playing the lead role. Directed by Devi Prasad Shetty, the film promises a thrilling experience. Unfortunately, it has not received the due it deserves. However, that can be still done by adding to the streaming minutes of the film on Prime.
3. Robbert
KFI saw a few bigwigs return to the theatres in 2021. Roberrt was one, marking Darshan’s arrival at the cinemas. If you consider the limitations of the genre, Roberrt was actually an entertaining experience.
2. Rathnan Prapancha
Another Daali outing, Rathnan Prapancha was a direct OTT Release. The performances, music, cinematography and direction played a big role in making the movie a success. A few more of such films, and KFI will be able to conquer a decent market on OTT platforms.
1. Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana
At No.1 on this list is Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana, featuring Raj B Shetty and Rishabh Shetty. A gangster drama, the film tells the tale of the conflict between Hari and Shiva, both characters depicted fantastically by the Shetty-duo.
