Sitharaman made the welfare of the healthcare sector the fulcrum around which the budget was centered. The health sector was allotted ₹2.35 crore, a move that has been welcomed by the netizens during such adverse times caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We chose to spend big on infrastructure across a wide variety of sectors. We have attended to the needs of the health sector, capacity building in health given a big place” said Finance Minister in her post-budget press conference.

Netizens reacted to the budget from a technical and analytical standpoint.  However, there is always a big audience in social media who limit their reactions to memes and catchy one-liners.

Budget can be interesting for a great many people who are aware of financial jargon and nuances. For some, it may sound boring and turn out to be a yawn fest.

For this reason, multiple memes highlighting boredom and confusion have surfaced on social media. Amid the sea of memes, there is a snapshot of Rahul Gandhi which has also gone viral on Twitter.

As Sitharaman delivered her Budget speech, netizens took note of an ill-timed photograph of Rahul Gandhi, who was seated wearing a blue facemask.
